Site Support Operative

📍 Haven Timber, Norton St Philip, BA2 7NG

🕒 Part-time or full-time | Flexible weekday hours between 7:30am–5:00pm

📅 Saturdays 8am–1pm required

Haven Timber is a busy, independent timber merchant known for quality products and great service. We're creating a new role for a practical, hard-working person to help keep our site clean, organised, and running efficiently.

This hands-on position is ideal for someone who takes pride in a job well done, enjoys varied tasks, and doesn’t mind getting stuck in — indoors or out. You’ll work independently but as part of a supportive, friendly team that values reliability and a positive attitude.

Key Responsibilities:

Site Cleaning & Upkeep

• Clean the shop, staff areas, toilets, workshop, windows, and sheds
• Tidy and maintain outdoor spaces, including litter picking, sweeping/blowing, and strimming
• Clean and check company vehicles
• Monitor and restock cleaning and maintenance supplies
• Carry out seasonal tasks such as leaf clearing or gritting paths in winter

Customer Support & Yard Duties

• Assist customers with loading timber by hand
• Check yard tickets to ensure correct items are being collected
• Keep timber stacks tidy, safe, and clearly labelled
• Help receive and unload deliveries as needed

Stock & Storage Organisation

• Refill shop shelves and count/check stock levels
• Check off stock against delivery tickets/purchase orders and flag any discrepancies
• Keep storerooms tidy, organised and accessible
• Support occasional reorganisation of storage areas and shop layout
• Flag any low stock or damaged goods to the team

Repairs & Maintenance

• Carry out basic painting, repairs, and general maintenance
• Maintain and repair signs, fencing, and fittings as needed
• Ensure all areas are kept safe, clean, and in good working order

• Someone reliable, practical, and physically fit
• Comfortable working outdoors in all weathers
• Takes pride in keeping things clean, tidy, and safe
• Friendly and helpful when dealing with customers
• No experience required — just a positive attitude and willingness to learn

Working Hours

• Flexible weekday hours available (part-time, full-time, or seasonal)
• Saturdays 8am–1pm are a fixed requirement
